A slab leak is a pressurized hot or cold water line failing inside the concrete slab a house sits on. Two failure modes dominate: pinhole pitting on copper supply lines (the most common in South Bay homes), and friction abrasion where a pipe crosses rebar or moves against gravel inside the slab. The symptoms are recognizable — warm spots on the floor, audible running water with all fixtures off, an unexplained jump on the water meter dial, or a sudden spike in the water bill. We confirm the diagnosis with a pressure-isolation test before cutting any concrete, because plenty of yard-line leaks, irrigation breaks, and fixture leaks mimic the same symptoms.

Once a slab leak is confirmed, we locate the exact failure point with electronic line tracing and acoustic listening equipment — typically within a few inches. The repair decision then comes down to one question: is the rest of the line in good shape, or are there multiple suspect points? Single first-time leak on an otherwise sound line gets a spot repair through a small slab cut. Multiple suspect points or a recurring history gets a reroute through walls and ceilings, because chasing leaks one at a time through the slab gets expensive fast.
