A snake (the rotating cable plumbers traditionally use) cuts a hole through an obstruction. A hydro-jet cleans the entire pipe wall. The difference matters because the things that actually cause recurring blockages — grease, sediment, root hairs, and biofilm — are still there after a snake. They just have a hole in them. Two months later, the line is full again.

Hydro-jetting at 3,500–4,000 PSI strips the pipe wall back to the original interior diameter. Grease lifts off. Root hairs shred and flush. Sediment liquefies. The line drains the way it did the day it was installed. For homes that snake their main line every 6–12 months on a recurring basis, one hydro-jet usually gets you 3–5 years of clean drains.

Pipe bursting is the gold-standard trenchless method for replacing a failed sewer lateral — meaning your existing pipe is gone, and a new HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipe is in its place, without excavating a 60-foot trench through your yard.

The way it works: we dig two small pits, one at the city sewer tap and one near your house cleanout. A hydraulic bursting head is pulled through the existing line. The head fractures the old pipe outward into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling a new HDPE pipe into place behind it. The whole job — including final pressure testing and city inspection — is typically a single day.
